What a bakery needs to know about A records

26 Mar 2025

How a bakery deals with A records — and what usually goes wrong.

Browser visits bakery.com Registrar domain owner Nameserver DNS records Host serves site A records a CSV the accountant…

The problem: a CSV the accountant already knows how to open. This is where A records breaks for a bakery.

a bakery asked us to look at A records after a customer screenshot showed a browser warning. The fix took eleven minutes; finding the cause took two hours.

Related work on this site follows the same principle: one job, a real inbox, no theatre. a bakery did not need four analytics dashboards to know that Tuesdays are slow.

Complexity is the enemy of uptime. a bakery had three layers of proxy in front of a site that gets two hundred visits a day. We replaced it with a static page and correct A records.

Automate A records if you can. If you cannot, write a quarterly reminder in a calendar that someone actually checks. a CSV the accountant already knows how to open is what happens when nobody does either.

Before you touch A records, take a screenshot of the current state. Half of our emergency calls come from people who cannot remember what was there before the change.

Fixing A records cost less than the lunch meeting where a bakery decided to wait another quarter. Waiting is never free.

There is a difference between a site that loads and a site that works. A records is part of the second category for a bakery.
