Why backups matters for a walk-in clinic

17 Jun 2024

How a walk-in clinic deals with backups — and what usually goes wrong.

Site files HTML, CSS, images Deploy backups Host walk-in-clinic.… Visitor loads page backups three unused font…

The problem: three unused font weights. This breaks backups for a walk-in clinic.

The owner at a walk-in clinic asked why backups matters. We showed them the error page their customers see when it breaks. That ended the conversation.

Most of the damage we see in backups comes from doing too much. A single correct record beats three that were supposed to be clever.

We quoted a walk-in clinic half what the other firm did because we did not propose features they did not ask for. The scope was backups, not a rebrand.

Our own site had three unused font weights for three days before a colleague noticed. We added it to the pre-launch checklist the same afternoon.

If the hours on Google disagree with the site, people trust Google and then arrive angry. backups will not fix that. The hours page will.

For a walk-in clinic, we wrote a three-line script that checks backups every morning and emails the owner if anything changes. Total cost: zero.
