Setting up canonical URLs for a yoga studio
27 Feb 2026
How a yoga studio deals with canonical URLs — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a CSV the accountant already knows how to open. This breaks canonical URLs for a yoga studio.
Most providers let you export canonical URLs as a zone file. We keep one in version control for every client. If the hosting vanishes, the zone file rebuilds the domain in minutes.
Nobody at a yoga studio could remember who had configured canonical URLs. The credentials were in a text file inside a folder called OLD STUFF on a shared drive.
The job started when a yoga studio realised their canonical URLs had been wrong for months. Nobody noticed because the site still loaded.
The fix was to delete the old entry, wait for TTL to expire, and re-add canonical URLs with the correct value. We scheduled it for 3 AM so nobody lost traffic.
Automate canonical URLs if you can. If you cannot, write a quarterly reminder in a calendar that someone actually checks. a CSV the accountant already knows how to open is what happens when nobody does either.
