CMS logins for a bakery
7 Jun 2025
How a bakery deals with CMS logins — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: an SPF record overwritten during a DNS edit. This breaks CMS logins for a bakery.
The job started when a bakery realised their CMS logins had been wrong for months. Nobody noticed because the site still loaded.
We checked the WHOIS for a bakery and found the domain was registered under a former employee. Transferring it took more time than fixing CMS logins.
After fixing CMS logins, we added a monitoring alert. If the record changes or the certificate approaches expiry, both we and a bakery get an email. No surprises.
You do not need a status page if you have never gone down. a bakery is on month fourteen of zero downtime, and the secret is boring: correct CMS logins and a host that does not oversell.
Fixing CMS logins cost less than the lunch meeting where a bakery decided to wait another quarter. Waiting is never free.
Instead of migrating CMS logins all at once, we ran both configurations in parallel for a week. The switch happened on a Wednesday morning — the quietest traffic window.
HTTPS is table stakes, but CMS logins is where trust actually lives for a bakery. A padlock with a misconfigured record behind it is decoration, not security.
