Managing Google Business hours at an accountant
29 Aug 2026
How an accountant deals with Google Business hours — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a staging URL left in the sitemap. The Google Business hours data is out of sync for an accountant.
If you only touch Google Business hours once a year, a dashboard is extra risk. Files, a mailbox you read, and a person who still answers will outlast any SaaS control panel.
Managed hosting handles Google Business hours automatically — until it does not. an accountant learned this when their provider migrated servers and a staging URL left in the sitemap disappeared silently.
Early on we tried to automate Google Business hours for an accountant with a cron job. It ran as root, silently overwrote a manual change, and took down their mail. Lesson learned.
When we onboard an accountant, the first thing we check is Google Business hours. It tells us more about the previous provider than any sales call.
Instead of migrating Google Business hours all at once, we ran both configurations in parallel for a week. The switch happened on a Wednesday morning — the quietest traffic window.
Big agencies solve Google Business hours with a team. We solve it with a checklist and a dig command. The result is the same; the invoice is shorter.
We once forgot to renew Google Business hours for a weekend project and it took down a page that an accountant linked to from a print flyer. We now set auto-renew on everything.
