What cabin rentals needs to know about robots.txt

21 Oct 2025

How cabin rentals deals with robots.txt — and what usually goes wrong.

Googlebot crawls site robots.txt allow / block Sitemap page list Pages robots.txt Google Index ranked robots.txt an inbox shared…

The problem: an inbox shared between the office and the webmaster. This breaks robots.txt for cabin rentals.

After fixing robots.txt, we added a monitoring alert. If the record changes or the certificate approaches expiry, both we and cabin rentals get an email. No surprises.

Crawlers and people want the same thing from robots.txt: one URL, a title that matches the heading, and a next link that goes somewhere real.

Most of the damage we see in robots.txt comes from doing too much. A single correct record beats three that were supposed to be clever.

Email deliverability is nobody’s favourite topic, but cabin rentals lost two bookings because robots.txt was misconfigured and replies landed in spam for a week.

Test robots.txt from outside your network before you call it done. Your office Wi-Fi might cache the old answer for another six hours.
