Setting up analytics tags for a bakery

How a bakery deals with analytics tags — and what usually goes wrong.

The problem: a booking tool that demands an account. analytics tags slows the page for a bakery.

WordPress can handle analytics tags with a plugin. But the plugin adds JavaScript, a dashboard, and a support ticket when it conflicts with the next update. We wrote four lines of config instead.

Complexity is the enemy of uptime. a bakery had three layers of proxy in front of a site that gets two hundred visits a day. We replaced it with a static page and correct analytics tags.

A static site for a bakery does not need a CDN, a build pipeline, or a container. It needs correct analytics tags and a host that stays online.

Automate analytics tags if you can. If you cannot, write a quarterly reminder in a calendar that someone actually checks. a booking tool that demands an account is what happens when nobody does either.

Fixing analytics tags cost less than the lunch meeting where a bakery decided to wait another quarter. Waiting is never free.
