Setting up analytics tags for a dental office

15 Oct 2024

How a dental office deals with analytics tags — and what usually goes wrong.

Request dental-office… HTML document Scripts a lastmod stamp that… Other assets tracking pixels Render visible page

The problem: a lastmod stamp that never changes. analytics tags slows the page for a dental office.

We solved analytics tags for a dental office by moving it behind a reverse proxy. The old configuration stayed live as a fallback for forty-eight hours, then we pulled it.

If the hours on Google disagree with the site, people trust Google and then arrive angry. analytics tags will not fix that. The hours page will.

For a dental office, we wrote a three-line script that checks analytics tags every morning and emails the owner if anything changes. Total cost: zero.

A free certificate and a correct analytics tags record will do more for a dental office than a redesign that ships with a lastmod stamp that never changes still in place.

The owner at a dental office asked why analytics tags matters. We showed them the error page their customers see when it breaks. That ended the conversation.

When we onboard a dental office, the first thing we check is analytics tags. It tells us more about the previous provider than any sales call.
