contact forms: a field note from a bakery
13 Jan 2026
How a bakery deals with contact forms — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a CSV the accountant already knows how to open. This breaks contact forms for a bakery.
We got a call from a bakery on a Friday. Their contact forms had expired overnight, and the booking page was returning errors to every visitor.
For a bakery, we wrote a three-line script that checks contact forms every morning and emails the owner if anything changes. Total cost: zero.
a bakery did not want to hear about contact forms. They wanted to know: will the site work tomorrow morning. The answer was yes, but only if we fix a CSV the accountant already knows how to open today.
DNS propagation is not instant, but it is not magic either. We explained to a bakery that the TTL on the old contact forms record was 86 400 seconds — twenty-four hours.
We write notes like this one because the same problems come back. If someone at a bakery reads it and avoids a CSV the accountant already knows how to open, the note paid for itself.
