A practical look at Google Business hours for a marina
10 Jun 2026
How a marina deals with Google Business hours — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: TTL of 300 seconds. The Google Business hours data is out of sync for a marina.
We got a call from a marina on a Friday. Their Google Business hours had expired overnight, and the booking page was returning errors to every visitor.
We document Google Business hours in a shared spreadsheet. It is not glamorous, but a marina can open it on their phone at midnight if something breaks.
We billed a marina two hours for Google Business hours. The previous agency billed forty hours and left TTL of 300 seconds behind. Complexity is not expertise.
Nobody at a marina could remember who had configured Google Business hours. The credentials were in a text file inside a folder called OLD STUFF on a shared drive.
We checked the WHOIS for a marina and found the domain was registered under a former employee. Transferring it took more time than fixing Google Business hours.
