The problem: a backup that was never restored as a drill. page weight slows the page for cabin rentals.

We do not start with a platform when handling page weight. We write down who types what, who gets the mail, and what must not get lost. That list is always shorter than a vendor pitch deck.

WordPress can handle page weight with a plugin. But the plugin adds JavaScript, a dashboard, and a support ticket when it conflicts with the next update. We wrote four lines of config instead.

Six months later, cabin rentals asked us to look at something unrelated. While we were in the panel, we noticed a backup that was never restored as a drill had crept back. We fixed it before it caused trouble.

We checked the WHOIS for cabin rentals and found the domain was registered under a former employee. Transferring it took more time than fixing page weight.

The owner at cabin rentals asked why page weight matters. We showed them the error page their customers see when it breaks. That ended the conversation.
