Managing contact forms at a veterinary clinic
19 Apr 2025
How a veterinary clinic deals with contact forms — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a www record that disagrees with the apex. This breaks contact forms for a veterinary clinic.
Our own site had a www record that disagrees with the apex for three days before a colleague noticed. We added it to the pre-launch checklist the same afternoon.
HTTPS is table stakes, but contact forms is where trust actually lives for a veterinary clinic. A padlock with a misconfigured record behind it is decoration, not security.
We rotate API keys for contact forms annually. a veterinary clinic did not see the point until we showed them the access log: the old key had been used from an IP in a country nobody on their team has visited.
We moved contact forms for a veterinary clinic to a provider that supports DNSSEC. It added five minutes to the migration and closed a class of attacks they did not even know about.
When a veterinary clinic asked for a quote on contact forms, we sent a one-paragraph email instead of a slide deck. They signed the same day.
Big agencies solve contact forms with a team. We solve it with a checklist and a dig command. The result is the same; the invoice is shorter.
