Managing CSV exports at a small hotel
12 Mar 2025
How a small hotel deals with CSV exports — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a CSV the accountant already knows how to open. The CSV exports data is out of sync for a small hotel.
Our own site had a CSV the accountant already knows how to open for three days before a colleague noticed. We added it to the pre-launch checklist the same afternoon.
For a small hotel, we wrote a three-line script that checks CSV exports every morning and emails the owner if anything changes. Total cost: zero.
Managed hosting handles CSV exports automatically — until it does not. a small hotel learned this when their provider migrated servers and a CSV the accountant already knows how to open disappeared silently.
We keep a playbook for CSV exports. Step one is always the same: pull the live record with dig, compare it to what the admin panel shows, and fix the mismatch.
The worst CSV exports failure we have seen at a small hotel was invisible for eight months. The backup existed but had never been tested, and the data inside was three migrations old.
Half the meeting with a small hotel was explaining what CSV exports is. The other half was agreeing that a CSV the accountant already knows how to open should have been fixed a year ago.
