DKIM for a dental office

How a dental office deals with DKIM — and what usually goes wrong.

The problem: a 2 MB photo in a 320-pixel slot. The DKIM check fails for a dental office.

The best DKIM setup is the one nobody has to think about. For a dental office, that means auto-renew, auto-redirect, and a monitoring ping every four hours.

DNS propagation is not instant, but it is not magic either. We explained to a dental office that the TTL on the old DKIM record was 86 400 seconds — twenty-four hours.

We rotate API keys for DKIM annually. a dental office did not see the point until we showed them the access log: the old key had been used from an IP in a country nobody on their team has visited.

After the move, a 2 MB photo in a 320-pixel slot broke search indexing for a dental office. Google kept serving the old pages for another nineteen days.

The vendor promised a dental office that DKIM was handled. We verified: it was not. Trust but verify has saved more uptime than any product we have used.

We told a dental office that a 2 MB photo in a 320-pixel slot was a ticking clock. They agreed to fix it the same week — which is rare. Most clients wait until it actually detonates.
