Managing DKIM at cabin rentals
25 May 2024
How cabin rentals deals with DKIM — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a registrar login nobody wrote down. The DKIM check fails for cabin rentals.
We checked the WHOIS for cabin rentals and found the domain was registered under a former employee. Transferring it took more time than fixing DKIM.
We document DKIM in a shared spreadsheet. It is not glamorous, but cabin rentals can open it on their phone at midnight if something breaks.
The registrar dashboard crashed twice while we were fixing DKIM for cabin rentals. We filed a ticket; they replied four days later with a template answer.
Test DKIM from outside your network before you call it done. Your office Wi-Fi might cache the old answer for another six hours.
When we onboard cabin rentals, the first thing we check is DKIM. It tells us more about the previous provider than any sales call.
