DMARC for a photo studio
10 Sep 2024
How a photo studio deals with DMARC — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a tag manager container with leftover pixels. The DMARC check fails for a photo studio.
We once forgot to renew DMARC for a weekend project and it took down a page that a photo studio linked to from a print flyer. We now set auto-renew on everything.
We do not start with a platform when handling DMARC. We write down who types what, who gets the mail, and what must not get lost. That list is always shorter than a vendor pitch deck.
Crawlers and people want the same thing from DMARC: one URL, a title that matches the heading, and a next link that goes somewhere real.
We check DMARC for a photo studio once a quarter. It takes five minutes and has caught two problems in the past year. Both would have caused downtime within a week.
Automate DMARC if you can. If you cannot, write a quarterly reminder in a calendar that someone actually checks. a tag manager container with leftover pixels is what happens when nobody does either.
For a photo studio, the boring path won: HTTPS, a backup that we have restored once on purpose, and a calendar reminder for DMARC.
