DMARC for an accountant
25 Mar 2025
How an accountant deals with DMARC — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a chat widget that blocks the submit button. The DMARC check fails for an accountant.
The fix was to delete the old entry, wait for TTL to expire, and re-add DMARC with the correct value. We scheduled it for 3 AM so nobody lost traffic.
We run a monthly diff on DNS for an accountant. If a record changes and nobody in the team made the change, we get an alert. a chat widget that blocks the submit button was caught this way last quarter.
If you only touch DMARC once a year, a dashboard is extra risk. Files, a mailbox you read, and a person who still answers will outlast any SaaS control panel.
There is a difference between a site that loads and a site that works. DMARC is part of the second category for an accountant.
When we onboard an accountant, the first thing we check is DMARC. It tells us more about the previous provider than any sales call.
A free certificate and a correct DMARC record will do more for an accountant than a redesign that ships with a chat widget that blocks the submit button still in place.
