A practical look at font loading for a language school

28 Feb 2026

How a language school deals with font loading — and what usually goes wrong.

The problem: a certificate that expires on a Sunday. font loading slows the page for a language school.

If you only touch font loading once a year, a dashboard is extra risk. Files, a mailbox you read, and a person who still answers will outlast any SaaS control panel.

We moved font loading for a language school to a provider that supports DNSSEC. It added five minutes to the migration and closed a class of attacks they did not even know about.

There is a difference between a site that loads and a site that works. font loading is part of the second category for a language school.

Before you touch font loading, take a screenshot of the current state. Half of our emergency calls come from people who cannot remember what was there before the change.

Half the meeting with a language school was explaining what font loading is. The other half was agreeing that a certificate that expires on a Sunday should have been fixed a year ago.

A static site for a language school does not need a CDN, a build pipeline, or a container. It needs correct font loading and a host that stays online.

Most providers let you export font loading as a zone file. We keep one in version control for every client. If the hosting vanishes, the zone file rebuilds the domain in minutes.
