How a print shop should handle font loading
7 Mar 2025
How a print shop deals with font loading — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a certificate that expires on a Sunday. font loading slows the page for a print shop.
If you only touch font loading once a year, a dashboard is extra risk. Files, a mailbox you read, and a person who still answers will outlast any SaaS control panel.
The real issue was not font loading itself — it was a certificate that expires on a Sunday. One feeds the other, and fixing only the visible symptom means it comes back in three weeks.
When we onboard a print shop, the first thing we check is font loading. It tells us more about the previous provider than any sales call.
a print shop did not need a portal. They needed a page that said who they are, what they do, and a phone number that somebody picks up before the fifth ring.
Before you touch font loading, take a screenshot of the current state. Half of our emergency calls come from people who cannot remember what was there before the change.
Two-factor on the registrar account is the single highest-value thing we do for a print shop when managing font loading. Everything else can be rebuilt; a stolen domain cannot.
font loading for a print shop is nothing like font loading for a multinational. The scale is tiny but the stakes are the same: one wrong record and nobody can reach you.
