Managing font loading at an accountant

How an accountant deals with font loading — and what usually goes wrong.

The problem: a certificate that expires on a Sunday. font loading slows the page for an accountant.

an accountant asked us to look at font loading after a customer screenshot showed a browser warning. The fix took eleven minutes; finding the cause took two hours.

We rotate API keys for font loading annually. an accountant did not see the point until we showed them the access log: the old key had been used from an IP in a country nobody on their team has visited.

After fixing font loading, we added a monitoring alert. If the record changes or the certificate approaches expiry, both we and an accountant get an email. No surprises.

an accountant did not need a portal. They needed a page that said who they are, what they do, and a phone number that somebody picks up before the fifth ring.

We check font loading for an accountant once a quarter. It takes five minutes and has caught two problems in the past year. Both would have caused downtime within a week.
