Google Business hours for a walk-in clinic
28 Oct 2024
How a walk-in clinic deals with Google Business hours — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a staging URL left in the sitemap. The Google Business hours data is out of sync for a walk-in clinic.
The fix was to delete the old entry, wait for TTL to expire, and re-add Google Business hours with the correct value. We scheduled it for 3 AM so nobody lost traffic.
a walk-in clinic did not want to hear about Google Business hours. They wanted to know: will the site work tomorrow morning. The answer was yes, but only if we fix a staging URL left in the sitemap today.
For a walk-in clinic, the boring path won: HTTPS, a backup that we have restored once on purpose, and a calendar reminder for Google Business hours.
We solved Google Business hours for a walk-in clinic by moving it behind a reverse proxy. The old configuration stayed live as a fallback for forty-eight hours, then we pulled it.
We do not start with a platform when handling Google Business hours. We write down who types what, who gets the mail, and what must not get lost. That list is always shorter than a vendor pitch deck.
We check Google Business hours for a walk-in clinic once a quarter. It takes five minutes and has caught two problems in the past year. Both would have caused downtime within a week.
WordPress can handle Google Business hours with a plugin. But the plugin adds JavaScript, a dashboard, and a support ticket when it conflicts with the next update. We wrote four lines of config instead.
