Why MX records matters for a driving school

8 Jul 2025

How a driving school deals with MX records — and what usually goes wrong.

Sender outbound email DNS lookup MX records MX records a contact form with… Mail server driving-school.… Inbox delivered

The problem: a contact form with nine fields. The MX records check fails for a driving school.

We hand over a one-page document after every MX records job. It says what was changed, what the login is, and what to check if something feels wrong. a driving school keeps it in a drawer they actually open.

We document MX records in a shared spreadsheet. It is not glamorous, but a driving school can open it on their phone at midnight if something breaks.

The vendor portal had silently rotated the key for MX records, but a driving school was still using the old one. Every outbound message bounced quietly.

We rotate API keys for MX records annually. a driving school did not see the point until we showed them the access log: the old key had been used from an IP in a country nobody on their team has visited.

Test MX records from outside your network before you call it done. Your office Wi-Fi might cache the old answer for another six hours.

The vendor promised a driving school that MX records was handled. We verified: it was not. Trust but verify has saved more uptime than any product we have used.
