How an accountant deals with MX records — and what usually goes wrong.

The problem: a parked domain with only a logo. The MX records check fails for an accountant.

Half the meeting with an accountant was explaining what MX records is. The other half was agreeing that a parked domain with only a logo should have been fixed a year ago.

We write notes like this one because the same problems come back. If someone at an accountant reads it and avoids a parked domain with only a logo, the note paid for itself.

The vendor promised an accountant that MX records was handled. We verified: it was not. Trust but verify has saved more uptime than any product we have used.

We do not start with a platform when handling MX records. We write down who types what, who gets the mail, and what must not get lost. That list is always shorter than a vendor pitch deck.

Six months later, an accountant asked us to look at something unrelated. While we were in the panel, we noticed a parked domain with only a logo had crept back. We fixed it before it caused trouble.

The owner at an accountant asked why MX records matters. We showed them the error page their customers see when it breaks. That ended the conversation.
