Why MX records matters for a roofing crew
1 Oct 2025
How a roofing crew deals with MX records — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a contact form with nine fields. The MX records check fails for a roofing crew.
There is a difference between a site that loads and a site that works. MX records is part of the second category for a roofing crew.
If the hours on Google disagree with the site, people trust Google and then arrive angry. MX records will not fix that. The hours page will.
A friend of the owner at a roofing crew had set up MX records years ago. When we audited, the config still pointed at a server they stopped paying for in 2024.
We checked the WHOIS for a roofing crew and found the domain was registered under a former employee. Transferring it took more time than fixing MX records.
We solved MX records for a roofing crew by moving it behind a reverse proxy. The old configuration stayed live as a fallback for forty-eight hours, then we pulled it.
The chain of trust for MX records starts at the registrar. If the registrar account uses an email nobody reads, every downstream fix is temporary.
We do not start with a platform when handling MX records. We write down who types what, who gets the mail, and what must not get lost. That list is always shorter than a vendor pitch deck.
