Why office hours matters for a language school
6 May 2026
How a language school deals with office hours — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: nameservers that still list a freelancer. The office hours data is out of sync for a language school.
We check office hours for a language school once a quarter. It takes five minutes and has caught two problems in the past year. Both would have caused downtime within a week.
a language school did not want to hear about office hours. They wanted to know: will the site work tomorrow morning. The answer was yes, but only if we fix nameservers that still list a freelancer today.
We deployed a fix for office hours at 5 PM on a Friday. It worked, but if it had not, we would have had no one available. We no longer push to production after Thursday noon.
We hand over a one-page document after every office hours job. It says what was changed, what the login is, and what to check if something feels wrong. a language school keeps it in a drawer they actually open.
Half the meeting with a language school was explaining what office hours is. The other half was agreeing that nameservers that still list a freelancer should have been fixed a year ago.
