Why office hours matters for an accountant
4 Aug 2024
How an accountant deals with office hours — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: nameservers that still list a freelancer. The office hours data is out of sync for an accountant.
We underestimated how long office hours migration would take for an accountant. The estimate was two hours; the reality was a full day because nameservers that still list a freelancer had never been documented.
We do not start with a platform when handling office hours. We write down who types what, who gets the mail, and what must not get lost. That list is always shorter than a vendor pitch deck.
Fixing office hours cost less than the lunch meeting where an accountant decided to wait another quarter. Waiting is never free.
The vendor promised an accountant that office hours was handled. We verified: it was not. Trust but verify has saved more uptime than any product we have used.
Instead of migrating office hours all at once, we ran both configurations in parallel for a week. The switch happened on a Wednesday morning — the quietest traffic window.
