SPF for a veterinary clinic
15 Jan 2025
How a veterinary clinic deals with SPF — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a booking tool that demands an account. The SPF check fails for a veterinary clinic.
We hand over a one-page document after every SPF job. It says what was changed, what the login is, and what to check if something feels wrong. a veterinary clinic keeps it in a drawer they actually open.
We quoted a veterinary clinic half what the other firm did because we did not propose features they did not ask for. The scope was SPF, not a rebrand.
The chain of trust for SPF starts at the registrar. If the registrar account uses an email nobody reads, every downstream fix is temporary.
HTTPS is table stakes, but SPF is where trust actually lives for a veterinary clinic. A padlock with a misconfigured record behind it is decoration, not security.
We document SPF in a shared spreadsheet. It is not glamorous, but a veterinary clinic can open it on their phone at midnight if something breaks.
Maintenance is not glamorous, but it is the reason a veterinary clinic has not had downtime since we took over SPF. The invoice is small and the peace of mind is large.
