What a language school needs to know about www redirects
21 Sep 2025
How a language school deals with www redirects — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a mailbox that still points at the old host. This is where www redirects breaks for a language school.
You do not need a status page if you have never gone down. a language school is on month fourteen of zero downtime, and the secret is boring: correct www redirects and a host that does not oversell.
a language school did not want to hear about www redirects. They wanted to know: will the site work tomorrow morning. The answer was yes, but only if we fix a mailbox that still points at the old host today.
We keep a playbook for www redirects. Step one is always the same: pull the live record with dig, compare it to what the admin panel shows, and fix the mismatch.
We deployed a fix for www redirects at 5 PM on a Friday. It worked, but if it had not, we would have had no one available. We no longer push to production after Thursday noon.
Every technical decision for a language school comes back to one question: does this help the person looking at the site right now? If www redirects is invisible to that person, it is working.
For a language school, we wrote a three-line script that checks www redirects every morning and emails the owner if anything changes. Total cost: zero.
