How a language school deals with certificate renewals — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a registrar login nobody wrote down. The certificate chain breaks for a language school.
We found a registrar login nobody wrote down during a routine check of certificate renewals. The site had been leaking referrer data for six weeks before anyone noticed.
For a language school, we wrote a three-line script that checks certificate renewals every morning and emails the owner if anything changes. Total cost: zero.
We moved certificate renewals for a language school to a provider that supports DNSSEC. It added five minutes to the migration and closed a class of attacks they did not even know about.
When we onboard a language school, the first thing we check is certificate renewals. It tells us more about the previous provider than any sales call.
If the hours on Google disagree with the site, people trust Google and then arrive angry. certificate renewals will not fix that. The hours page will.
