Why MX records matters for a bakery

How a bakery deals with MX records — and what usually goes wrong.

The problem: a parked domain with only a logo. The MX records check fails for a bakery.

Two-factor on the registrar account is the single highest-value thing we do for a bakery when managing MX records. Everything else can be rebuilt; a stolen domain cannot.

A free certificate and a correct MX records record will do more for a bakery than a redesign that ships with a parked domain with only a logo still in place.

We solved MX records for a bakery by moving it behind a reverse proxy. The old configuration stayed live as a fallback for forty-eight hours, then we pulled it.

You do not need a status page if you have never gone down. a bakery is on month fourteen of zero downtime, and the secret is boring: correct MX records and a host that does not oversell.

When a bakery moved hosts, the outage was not the new box — it was a parked domain with only a logo. We keep TTL short the week of a move, then raise it once everything is stable.

We do not start with a platform when handling MX records. We write down who types what, who gets the mail, and what must not get lost. That list is always shorter than a vendor pitch deck.

The job started when a bakery realised their MX records had been wrong for months. Nobody noticed because the site still loaded.
