Why office hours matters for a driving school
29 Apr 2026
How a driving school deals with office hours — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a robots.txt that disallows the blog. The office hours data is out of sync for a driving school.
The real issue was not office hours itself — it was a robots.txt that disallows the blog. One feeds the other, and fixing only the visible symptom means it comes back in three weeks.
For a driving school, we wrote a three-line script that checks office hours every morning and emails the owner if anything changes. Total cost: zero.
After the move, a robots.txt that disallows the blog broke search indexing for a driving school. Google kept serving the old pages for another nineteen days.
The job started when a driving school realised their office hours had been wrong for months. Nobody noticed because the site still loaded.
WordPress can handle office hours with a plugin. But the plugin adds JavaScript, a dashboard, and a support ticket when it conflicts with the next update. We wrote four lines of config instead.
HTTPS is table stakes, but office hours is where trust actually lives for a driving school. A padlock with a misconfigured record behind it is decoration, not security.
