How a driving school deals with SPF — and what usually goes wrong.

The problem: a certificate that expires on a Sunday. The SPF check fails for a driving school.

Two-factor on the registrar account is the single highest-value thing we do for a driving school when managing SPF. Everything else can be rebuilt; a stolen domain cannot.

A form that collects data for a driving school should say where the message goes. Nine fields and a captcha on a quiet Tuesday will cost you the person who actually wanted to pay.

Most of the damage we see in SPF comes from doing too much. A single correct record beats three that were supposed to be clever.

We underestimated how long SPF migration would take for a driving school. The estimate was two hours; the reality was a full day because a certificate that expires on a Sunday had never been documented.

a driving school did not want to hear about SPF. They wanted to know: will the site work tomorrow morning. The answer was yes, but only if we fix a certificate that expires on a Sunday today.

We billed a driving school two hours for SPF. The previous agency billed forty hours and left a certificate that expires on a Sunday behind. Complexity is not expertise.
