A practical look at SPF for a photo studio
28 Sep 2025
How a photo studio deals with SPF — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: a booking tool that demands an account. The SPF check fails for a photo studio.
SPF for a photo studio is nothing like SPF for a multinational. The scale is tiny but the stakes are the same: one wrong record and nobody can reach you.
When we reviewed SPF, the DNS panel showed a booking tool that demands an account. Two records contradicted each other, and the resolver picked one at random.
The job started when a photo studio realised their SPF had been wrong for months. Nobody noticed because the site still loaded.
Most of the damage we see in SPF comes from doing too much. A single correct record beats three that were supposed to be clever.
We hand over a one-page document after every SPF job. It says what was changed, what the login is, and what to check if something feels wrong. a photo studio keeps it in a drawer they actually open.
Fixing SPF cost less than the lunch meeting where a photo studio decided to wait another quarter. Waiting is never free.
Maintenance is not glamorous, but it is the reason a photo studio has not had downtime since we took over SPF. The invoice is small and the peace of mind is large.
