DMARC: a field note from a driving school
20 Mar 2025
How a driving school deals with DMARC — and what usually goes wrong.
The problem: HTTP bookmarks after a forced HTTPS move. The DMARC check fails for a driving school.
The chain of trust for DMARC starts at the registrar. If the registrar account uses an email nobody reads, every downstream fix is temporary.
A friend of the owner at a driving school had set up DMARC years ago. When we audited, the config still pointed at a server they stopped paying for in 2024.
Launch day for a driving school is usually light. Week three is when leftover tags, fonts, and staging URLs show up. HTTP bookmarks after a forced HTTPS move is the usual passenger.
The best DMARC setup is the one nobody has to think about. For a driving school, that means auto-renew, auto-redirect, and a monitoring ping every four hours.
For a driving school, we wrote a three-line script that checks DMARC every morning and emails the owner if anything changes. Total cost: zero.
